Life’s circumstances change, and finding the right tool is essential.
I work with you to select a model that will be most effective for you right now.
EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy that helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories, allowing them to be stored in a healthier way. It involves focusing on a specific memory while engaging in bilateral stimulation. This can be done using eye movements, tapping, or tones, to help the brain process the memory and reduce its emotional impact. I find EMDR to be an incredibly useful tool. Typically, 2 sessions are required to prepare for a EMDR session.
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
Psychodynamic psychotherapy explores unconscious conflicts, desires, and past experiences to help clients gain deeper self-awareness and resolve underlying emotional issues that influence their current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By facilitating emotional expression and the identification of recurring patterns, the therapist aims to foster psychological functioning and a greater understanding of how early life events shape current issues.
CBT
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) teaches you coping skills for dealing with a range of concerns. It focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and actions. CBT can be a great tool for clients wanting concrete work.
These are just a few examples of models I specialize in. Just like you are unique, so are the circumstances you come to me with. Together we work to create a therapy that fits for you.
