I want you to get the support you deserve in the journey you are on.
My Background
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years experience in mental health. My beginnings started in acute mental health and sexual assault trauma response. I worked at Child Crisis Response and have worked closely with addiction related concerns. I spent close to a decade at SF General Hospital & then moved to private practice where I became certified as a EMDR therapist. In recent years I have worked with refugees abroad, and in addition to my private practice, participate and facilitate global groups based on the ICT (Integrative Community Therapy) model.
I am a midwest transplant, having moved to the Bay Area in 2000. When not working you can find me enjoying or playing music, crafting, traveling, and spending time with my family.
Education
Liberal Arts BA majoring in Psychology, Minors in Sociology & Criminal Justice from Gustavus Adolphus College (1999).
Masters Degree in Social Welfare from UC Berkeley (2004)
EMDR Therapist trained by Laurel Parnell, PhD (2009)
Am I the right therapist for you?
I hope so. But as a therapist, friends often ask me “How do I find the right therapist”. My answer is always the same. While it is important to find someone with the right skill set for your needs, it is equally important to have the right chemistry. I typically suggest 3 sessions to know for both me and you if we are a good match. In the times when we were not I use the third session to work together on finding you someone better suited to your needs.
It can also be helpful to have an intro session before committing to those 3 sessions. I offer a free 20 minute introduction on Zoom to let you ask specific questions to let you know if you want to move forward.
